I think the movie was about a professor who inspired his students to form a debate team to challenge themself mentally about the issues they were facing. But it was mostly based on racial discrimination and racial violence.
The movie is about a group of black student who was pushed to the limit by their teacher to be challenge in a debate inspite of discrimination and racism by the whites.
I think the movie is about a teacher and his students fighting to be heard. the word "Great" makes me think that they will be successful in what ever journey they will be taking against the whites to end discrimination.
By listening to the title "The Great Debaters",it gives me an idea that it must be about a group of intelligent persons, who though their voice are able to convince the hearers, of important topics or issues in life.
The movie the Great Debaters is based on racial segregation in the 1930’s where the Jim Crow Laws were enforced and the black were not allowed to mingle around with the white people. This movie talks about 4 great debaters that are fighting for their rights, liberation, and aspirations to be equal as whites. They had to go through many challenges, debate with many teams to obtain their primary objectives which was to be together with the whites in the schools, colleges, trains, etc.
I think the movie the "Great Debaters s about poverty, crime and racial discrimination. These issues will be debated on in order to reach under one common equality for all. (LIBERATE)
Prior to watching the movie or trailer to “ The Great Debaters” I thought it was about renowned political figures – played by Denzil Washington and Forrest Whittaker - that were able to face many obstacles and influence change through their oratory skills at debates in the United States congress, during the country’s civil rights era of the 1950’s and 60’s. My reason for this perception was that I noticed that it starred two academy –award winning actors – the two names listed previously – and it was produced by Oprah Winfrey; and many – if not all – her movies surround the theme of African Americans overcoming or facing some obstacle(s) during times when they were marginalized as a people.
"The Great Debaters" from the title I though the movie would have been about young people from high school debating about civil rights. I gathered from the word "Great" that they were exceptional at debating and that they were being able to inflict their true emotions about whatever the argument would be about and deliver the message across clearly which would make them "great".
To me before watching this movie I taught it was about a bunch of black kids trying to prove something to the world, Trying to show that they can do something as god as anyone back in their time.
Prior to viewing the movie “The Great Debaters” my initial thoughts were that this movie was one of determined people because in order to be ‘great’ one must be resolute. More specifically it about colored people who have difference of opinion on issue that affect them personally and as a wider society. Based on the title I came to the conclusion that it was during or surrounding the time of slavery because around that time was when debates where more periodic.
Before viewing this movie, my perception of the movie “The Great Debaters” was based solely around debating. I believe it was about some debaters who were extremely talented, debating for a specific cause; working against great odds and adversity to accomplish one common goal.
I think the movie is about persons taking part in the very skill full method called "debating". Where they would be engage in formal way of arguing. Also the word "great" says a lot meaning that these debaters some prove them selves to be great.
When I heard the name of the movie two things came to mind: I first thought about a political movie. That came to mind because of the term “debaters” Lastly I thought of a colored movie with people who were at war for their rights.
What i believe the movie will be about just by listening to the name "The Great Debators" is that they will be a group of people who has one strong belief who will fight for a certain common cause where by much debating will be needed and they will need to prove their points against others who do not believe in what they themselve believes in. I also feels that by using the word great whoever are the debators will eventually succeed at making their points and will probably get actions done towards whatever was their belief or what they were fighting for.

From the name of the movie “The Great Debaters” I assume that the movie is about a group of intelligent people (great) who debate one or more important topics. Since the title of the movie is “The Great Debaters” then I also assume that there are a series of debates probably in more than one place and on more than one topic because the title alone tells me that the entire movie is based on these debaters.
I think that the movie is based on students that will be debating and voicing up their opinions against other students or people and that they will come out victorious and be recognized and known by everyone.
I believe that the movie is about a group of debaters who probably had a major influence on society and the very same people they debated, who eventually made some great movement....
I think that The movie “The Great Debaters” is about a group of people debating over one particular topic of choice to persuade the minds of the people in the village.

I think that The movie “The Great Debaters” is about a group of people debating over one particular topic of choice to persuade the minds of the people in the village.
